Man who died in bizarre crash on I-469 is identified

The man who died in a bizarre crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 469 has been identified as Ricky Gene Richhart, 51, of New Haven, according to a statement from the Allen County Coroner’s office.

An autopsy on Thursday found that Richhart died of blunt force trauma when the truck he was driving on a rural road crashed through a guardrail, went onto the interstate and overturned.

His death was ruled an accident, the statement said.

Richhart is Allen County’s 17th traffic fatality in 2014.

The incident is still under investigation.
