Firefighters get in rescue training

Firefighter Kevin Bertram of the Fort Wayne Fire Department’s SORT team works on high-angle rescue training Wednesday with firefighter Ryan Hartkorn in a basket. They descended by ropes off the top of the Rousseau Centre to the top of the parking garage below. The drill is part of a certification program that requires the 30 SORT team members to have 190 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on skills including rope rescue, trench cave-in, confined space and tower rescue.
