Eilar Hardy 5th player targeted by probe

Notre Dame announced that a fifth player is being held out of football activities because of the school's ongoing investigation into potential academic fraud. A university official told The Journal Gazette that the latest probe target is reserve safety Eilar Hardy.

The short release from the school is below:

As Notre Dame's internal investigation relating to potential NCAA violations reaches its conclusion, a decision has been made to hold a fifth football player out from practice and competition. As with all cases of suspected academic dishonesty, the matter will now be subject to the University's honor code process.

The four other players under investigation are DaVaris Daniels, KeiVarae Russell, Ishaq Williams and Kendall Moore.

Hardy is a senior from Ohio who made 26 tackles in 10 games last season but was not listed on the team's two-deep heading into Saturday's season opener against Rice.
