Ohio plane crash slightly hurts pilot

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a small-plane crash that occurred Monday just after noon in a wooded area in Williams County.

According to a news release from the highway patrol, a 1992 Maule single-engine aircraft, piloted by Samuel Santa-Rita, 46, of Edon, crashed shortly after taking off from a private airfield at 06868 Ohio Route 49. The plane turned to the left, lost altitude and crashed.

Santa-Rita was the sole occupant of the airplane and suffered minor injuries. He was treated at the scene.

Further investigation into the crash is being handled by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Columbus, Ohio, office, according to the release.
