2015 TinCaps schedule: Ready the fireworks

The TinCaps released their 2015 schedule Saturday with the team planning postgame fireworks for 29 of the 70 home dates.

Opening Day takes place April 9 at Great Lakes, with the home opener April 12 at Parkview Field against Lansing.

The schedule runs deeper into the calendar than it did this year, as the TinCaps close 2015 with a three-game series at home against Bowling Green Sept. 5-7.

Quirks of the schedule include an 11-games-in-11-days road trip through Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan to face Bowling Green (May 15-17), Lake County (May 18-21) and Lansing (May 22-25). The final road trip of the season is a two-city, five-game tour of Michigan.

The TinCaps are at Parkview Field for several holidays: Independence Day (July 4 versus Dayton), Father's Day (June 21 against Bowling Green) and Labor Day (Sept. 7). Their longest homestand is seven games, running from May 26 to June 1 against Great Lakes and West Michigan.

The TinCaps' 70 home games are evenly distributed throughout the week, with 10 on Sundays, eight on Mondays, eight on Tuesdays, 11 on Wednesdays, 11 on Thursdays, 11 on Fridays and 11 on Saturdays.

The Midwest League All-Star break is June 22-24, with the league's exhibition game held at Peoria.

With six home games left this season, the TinCaps cited their average 2014 attendance of 5,849 as superior to 13 of 30 Triple-A teams and 26 of 30 Double-A clubs.

"We've had a great run downtown so far," team president Mike Nutter said in a release. "That's a credit to the folks around Fort Wayne being the best in minor league baseball. So to continue to serve them, we're only thinking bigger and better for season seven (since the franchise moved to Parkview Field) next year."
