Crash ejects, kills driver

A Texas man was killed in DeKalb County early Wednesday when he lost control, crashed into a ditch embankment and was thrown from his vehicle, police said.

At 2:50 a.m., police were called to the southbound lanes of Interstate 69 about 3 miles north of U.S. 6 on a report of a single-vehicle crash, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department said.

Police said Ihtsham Waseem, 27, of Richardson, Texas, was headed south on the highway when he left the road for an unknown reason.

Waseem then overcorrected, crossed back to the west side of the highway and left the road, forcing the vehicle into a ditch embankment, officers said.

The driver, who was not wearing his seat belt, was thrown from the car as it rolled, police said.
