Science Central's registration manager, Jim Hodgin, wins Hoosier Hospitality award

The following statement was issued Thursday by Science Central:

Fort Wayne, Indiana-- Jim Hodgin, Registration Manager at Fort Wayne's Science Central, has won a 2014 Hoosier Hospitality Award. He will receive his award from Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair on Friday, August 15, in Indianapolis.

The awards, which are presented to a select group of recipients from across the state each year, recognize those who go out of their way to provide excellent customer service to visitors.

Hodgin was nominated for the award by Science Central Executive Director Martin S. Fisher and Visitor Services Director Chris Harris, Jim's immediate supervisor.

"We're delighted that Jim was selected as an award winner because he's so deserving of it," said Fisher. "He's the embodiment of a true professional, going above and beyond to assist schools in scheduling study trips to our hands-on science center. He also makes sure our facility rentals go smoothly, and he works closely with scheduling our camps and campers. He truly represents the spirit of Hoosier Hospitality, and does what it takes to make sure our visitors - whether they're from Indiana or one of our neighboring states - have an excellent experience when scheduling their visits."

Hodgin has worked at Science Central for over 17 years, joining the organization in 1998. In his role as Registration Manager, he is responsible for the organization's ticketing software; scheduling and managing event rentals; registering schools for study trips, labs and demonstrations; making arrangements for birthday parties, Snoozeums (overnight stays), Afternoon Science (for home schoolers), and other Science Central programming; fielding calls and emails for camp enrollment; and supervising camp registration and check-in. He is a graduate of Purdue University Fort Wayne, with a B.A. degree in Performing Arts. He is the father of two grown daughters, Sarah and Jennifer. When not working, Jim is an avid video gamer, and performs in area theater productions.

Science Central, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has provided a hands-on fun learning environment for over 18 years.
