The man was driving south on the interstate at the 337 mile marker near Waterloo about 2:50 a.m. when he left the road on the east side, overcorrected and left the road on the west side, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The vehicle struck a ditch embankment and overturned 1 1/2 times, coming to rest on the driver's side, the statement said. At some time during the overturning, it said, the driver was ejected.
