Victim of fatal DeKalb crash identified

The DeKalb County sheriff's department has identified the victim of this morning's fatal crash on Interstate 69.

Ihtsham Waseem, 27, of Richardson, Texas, died at the scene of the 2:51 a.m. accident at the 337 mile marker near Waterloo, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

Waseem was driving south on the interstate, left the road to the east, overcorrected and left the road again on the west side, the statement said. It struck a ditch embankment, overturned 1 1/2 times and ejected Waseem, who was not wearing a seat belt.

Police said they don't know what caused Waseem to leave the road. The crash remains under investigation.
