MASON, Ohio – Kings Island Amusement Park set another record in its efforts to help in the fight against cancers affecting men, women and children.
The 1,821 people participating Saturday at the 364-acre amusement and water park broke the record for the most people applying lipstick at the same time. The event is part of the park’s inaugural Kicks Cancer campaign to raise awareness and money for Pink Ribbon Girls whose mission is to provide personalized support to young women and their families throughout all phases of the breast cancer journey.
The Guinness Book of Records says the current record at 1,384 people applying lipstick at the same time was achieved by Avon Romania at the lulius Mall in the town of Cluj-Napoca in Romania in March.
This is the third record Kings Island has broken in three weeks. Last week, the park topped the record for the most people applying sunscreen simultaneously with 2,148 people and on August 1 achieved the head-shaving record at 213 heads shaved.
Park visitors can contribute to the campaign through August 24 by buying a soccer ball for $5 and kicking it into the park fountain for a chance to win a 2015 Honda Fit, courtesy of Performance Kings Honda.
As of Saturday, more than $110,000 has been raised since the campaign began July 25.
Net proceeds from soccer ball sales benefit The Dragonfly Foundation, Melanoma Know More and Pink Ribbon Girls.
