Owner of Sports N Spirits, three others arrested during police raid

Four people were arrested early today during a raid at the Sports N Spirits bar, 1723 E. Wayne St., including owner Burke Baughman, Fort Wayne police said.

Police said they began an investigation into the bar after receiving complaints from the public about the number of violent events in or around the bar. According to police, officers have been called to the bar more than 100 times since 2013.

Baughman was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, police said.

Also arrested, police said, were April Bradford, charged with possession of marijuana; Marcy Parker; and bartender Jennifer Smith. Parker and Smith both had arrest warrants, police said.

The raid was conducted by the Fort Wayne Police Department Emergency Services Team, Vice & Narcotics Unit, Gang & Violent Crime Unit and the Indiana State Excise Police.

Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code also is investigating code violations at the bar, police said.
