Myrtle Young, Fort Wayne's Potato Chip Lady dies

Myrtle Young, otherwise known as the Fort Wayne Potato Chip Lady, died Saturday, August 9. She was born in 1924 in Kentucky.

Myrtle worked at Seyferts for many years and while there collected more than 400 “likenesses” of famous people and animals in potato chip form. Myrtle is best known for her television appearances, including the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and the Letterman Show with David Letterman.

After retiring, she remained a tour guide for the snack maker until the Fort Wayne plant closed in 2000.
