Former Bishop Luers standout and Marion graduate James Blackmon Jr. led the Indiana men’s basketball team to a 96-69 victory over McGill University at Love Competition Hall in Montreal on Tuesday.
Blackmon, a freshman, led the Hoosiers with 21 points, making 8 of 13 from the field, with five rebounds and two steals. Sophomore Troy Williams had 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win.
The win improves the Hoosiers to 3-1 on their trip to Canada with one game remaining. The final game of the trip will be against the University of Quebec at Montreal at 1 p.m. today.
After jumping out to a 28-17 advantage after the first period, Indiana used a 34-12 run over the course of the second period to create the separation and cruise to the win. The Hoosiers’ defense held McGill to fewer than 20 points in three of the four periods in the game.
Redshirt junior Nick Zeisloft had 15 points and six rebounds off the bench. Junior Yogi Ferrell scored 11 points.
