Huntington man dies after July crash

A Huntington man has died at Lutheran Hospital because of injuries he suffered in a July 20 traffic accident in Fort Wayne, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Kevin L. Walda, 27, died from blunt force trauma in the accident, the coroner's office said in a statement. His death is the 14th traffic fataility in Allen County this year, the statement said.

Walda was the driver of a van that crashed at 8:45 p.m. at Runnion Avenue and Howell Street, the coroner's office said. Witnesses told police the van was speeding as it went over some railroad tracks, then began to flip, turning over several times.

The victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and alcohol was a factor, the statement said.
