Adams teen jailed in weapons probe

A rural Adams County teenager was arrested Friday after a brief investigation into weapons violations.

Zachary T. Fiechter, 18, was jailed on a preliminary felony charge of dangerous control of a firearm, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.

Police did not elaborate on why the charge was brought against Fiechter or how the investigation started.

Late Friday morning, the sheriff’s department, along with the Indiana State Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Fort Wayne Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives served a search warrant at a home, which resulted in Fiechter’s arrest, police said.

What investigators found in the home at 5171 W. 300 S-1 was not revealed, but the homeowner was cooperative, the sheriff’s department said.
