Garrett man dies in Noble truck-motorcycle crash

A Garrett man died this morning when his motorcycle collided with a truck at a Noble County intersection, Indiana State Police said.

Merlin Isaac Jr., 39, died at the scene of the 10 a.m. crash at Baseline Road and County Road 600 East, state police at Fort Wayne said in a statement.

Police said a truck driven by Richard Smith, 62, of LaGrange was traveling north on the county road when it stopped at the intersection with Baseline Road.

The truck proceeded into the intersection as Isaac's eastbound motorcycle crested the hill immediately to the west, police said.

They said Smith was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The county sheriff's department and EMS and the Avilla police and fire departments assisted at the scene, police said.
