City man faces teen sex charge

A Fort Wayne man was in custody Tuesday night after a woman told police she caught him in bed with her teenage son.

Andrew P. Smith, 28, of the 9000 block of Front Street, was jailed Saturday night on two preliminary charges of sexual misconduct with a minor for what the mother said she saw, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The woman called police after she walked into her 14-year-old son’s bedroom and found him naked in bed with Smith, who she said was in the midst of a sex act with her son, the affidavit said.

The woman told police she started to scream at Smith, who then ran from the home, the affidavit said.

He eventually emerged wearing only shorts from a wooded area near the home and was arrested, according to the affidavit.

He was being held in lieu of $40,000 bail Tuesday night.
