A man threatening to commit suicide barricaded himself inside a home in the 1000 block of Farwood Avenue Monday night, Fort Wayne Public Information Officer Michael Joyner said.

According to Joyner, police were called to the home Monday when someone reported a man had locked himself in a bedroom and was threatening to commit suicide. After several tries to get the man to surrender, police called out the Emergency Services Team (EST) and Crises Response Team (CRT).

CRT was able to talk to the man by telephone and get him to come out around 11:30 Monday night.

The man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.
