Body recovered from Kosciusko lake

The body of a Fort Wayne woman was recovered by conservation officers from a Kosciusko County lake Saturday night.

Natalie Zellers, 38, had been swimming with her husband from a boat on the north end of Silver Lake, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Both Zellers and her husband were wearing life jackets in the water but had removed them after climbing back into the boat.

Zellers was standing on the front of the boat about 6 p.m. when she fell backwards into the water. She went under the water and never resurfaced. Her husband attempted to rescue her while other witnesses called 911.

Using sonar, conservation officers located her body in 22 feet of water about 9 p.m., according to the release.

Indiana conservation officers and the Kosciusko County Coroner are conducting the death investigation.
