It's been seven weeks since the members of the Fit Crew took on the challenge to eat better, move more and get healthier.
The 49 days have been marked with workouts, meetings with dietitians; temptations and discoveries; challenges and successes. Some of the victories are on the scale, with the crew losing more than 85 pounds at the halfway point, and others in the way clothes fit or breakthroughs while exercising.
The Fit Crew has also signed on for a new challenge – the Fort4Fitness fall festival, where they will participate in the 4-mile walk/run.
Blog excerpt: I'm not a big breakfast eater so it was hard to start eating the right three meals a day. I found that a fast and easy food to eat is soup. I think I like it so much because to my brain, it looks like a big portion and then my stomach agrees. The soup keeps me full until lunch time and is low in calories, which is great.
Blog excerpt: A cool feature of the MyFitnessPal app is that you can put in entries of your weight, waist, neck, and a few other common trouble areas so you can visually see your progress through a graph. I really think that this app has tremendously helped me maintain a healthier life style since joining the Fit Crew.
How the week went: This week I had a very good workout because I lost so much weight and right now I'm the lightest I've ever been my whole life. I'm going to keep pushing myself and not give up.
Blog excerpt: Before I started in the Fit Crew, I bit my nails all the time! Now that I'm in the Fit Crew program, I don't bite my nails at all because I feel a change in my body.
How the week went: This week, my weight was not where I wanted it. I also had to work at the fair. When I was at the fair, I could smell all of the greasy foods and the typical fair sweets, and I had to resist the urge to eat fair food.
Blog excerpt: On Friday, I went to the YMCA and my trainer had me work on speed sets, rotating from a few different things, and switching really fast. I feel like I could have done better, but at the time it was my best.
How the week went: This week has been overall good. My family is helping a lot by eating healthier with me so it's less tempting to eat junk food. I'm so glad I have so much support!
Blog excerpt: My dog is loving it as he's gotten so many extra walks. I think he's lost some weight too!
How the week went: This week has been OK. I have fallen into a normal routine, and I'm making better choices. It's still hard, but I am getting used to it. I have been really active with school activities like marching band, so staying active hasn't been too bad, although I haven't been able to get to a gym as much.
Blog excerpt: Don't give in to peer pressure situations. Just because everyone else is eating pizza doesn't mean you have to.
How the week went: This week went well! I've been doing weight training once a day, and cardio twice a day. Going to the gym every day is a big part of my routine. I always choose fruits, vegetables or little healthy snacks as opposed to high-calorie ones.
Blog excerpt: The biggest thing that is keeping me motivated, is my progress. My body is constantly changing in small ways, and I feel better than ever. My body is definitely thanking me for all of my hard work.
