    A diver pulled the body of 3-year-old girl out of a pond on AllenCounty's south side Tuesday afternoon. She was pronounced dead, according to authorities at the scene.

Warsaw rider badly hurt in moped crash

A Warsaw man was found with a severe head injury Friday after he crashed his moped in Kosciusko County, police said.

About 5:15 p.m., police learned of a moped crash on Indiana 25 just south of County Road 250 South, referred to locally as “Devil’s Backbone,” the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department said. Police found the driver of the moped, identified as 38-year-old Shannon L. Hursey of Warsaw.

He was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition later in the evening.

According to investigators, Hursey was headed south on Indiana 25 when his moped hit a guard rail on the west side of the highway.

Police said Hursey was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
