Moped crash injures Warsaw man

Kosciusko County FACT Team members are investigating a moped crash that injured a Warsaw man, the county sheriff's department said tonight.

Deputies and emergency workers responded about 5:15 p.m. to the crash on Indiana 25 south of County Road 250 South, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The driver, Shannon L. Hursey, 38, was found in the roadway suffering from a severe head injury, the statement said.

Hursey was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, and the statement said he was in stable condition tonight.

Hursey was riding south on Indiana 25 and for an unknown reason struck a guardrail on the west side of the road, the statement said. It said he was not wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FACT Team was assisted by Warsaw/Wayne Township and Burket firefighters, Multi-Township EMS, Warsaw police and the sheriff's department.
