Children wait to feed Jelani the giraffe on Friday in the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s African Journey exhibit. The Zoo celebrated Jelani’s 16th birthday by singing and letting children sign giant cards for the zoo’s tallest resident.

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo celebrated Jelani the giraffe’s 16th birthday on Friday by singing and letting children sign giant cards for the zoo’s tallest resident.

Jelani mingled with guests and even enjoyed a special birthday "cake."

The cake was composed of chopped up carrots and leaves, and Jelani stuck around as children fed him more lettuce.
