  • Meijer agrees to pay $2 million civil penalty
    The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Meijer, Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., has agreed to pay a $2 million civil penalty for distributing recalled consumer products.
  • Wawaka railroad crossing closed
    The railroad crossing on Noble County Road 300 West in Wawaka is closed until Friday, according to Noble County Emergency Management. A reason wasn’t given for the closure.

Public access head plans free forum

Luke Britt, Indiana’s public access counselor, will give a free public presentation on the state’s public access laws at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Omni Room at Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St.

Britt, who was appointed by Gov. Mike Pence in 2013, is an attorney who provides advice, assistance and education about public access laws to the public and state and local government entities.

His office also issues advisory opinions about public records and open meetings.
