Curt Miller resigns as IU women's basketball coach

Curt Miller has resigned as head women's basketball coach at Indiana University, the university said today.

In a letter dated Thursday to athletic director Fred Glass, Miller said he was leaving "for personal health and family reasons."

Indiana was 21-13 last season (5-11 Big Ten), and made the quarterfinals of the Women's NIT.

Miller and Glass met with the team and available staff this morning, the university said in a statement. It said Associate Head Coach Curtis Loyd would serve as interim head coach until a new head coach is hired.

Glass said he would ask the new head coach to consider retaining current assistant coaches, but that would be his or her decision. He said he would personally lead the search for Miller's replacement, with advisers from inside and outside the athletic department, including a member of the women's basketball team.

"Curt Miller did an incredible job coaching this team, bringing us farther, faster than anyone could have reasonably expected," Glass said. "He leaves the program in a very strong position and poised for much greater success."
