  • Girl, lifeless, pulled from pond
    A diver pulled the body of 3-year-old girl out of a pond on AllenCounty's south side Tuesday afternoon. She was pronounced dead, according to authorities at the scene.

    Fort Wayne Police have identified the second person shot Sunday in the 600 block of East Rudisill Boulevard as James W. Armstrong from Arizona.

    A semi that rolled onto its side caused slowdowns in traffic on Interstate 469 on Monday, according to Indiana State Police.There were only minor injuries in the crash.

Family escapes apartment blaze

Six people and two pets escaped injuries early Wednesday when a fire broke out in a wall of their apartment.

When the Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived about 1:45 a.m. at 928 Rivermet Ave., they found all six people in the apartment and their two pets safely outside the building, officials said.

As firefighters entered the quadplex unit, they found a fire in an interior wall on the second floor.

The fire also made its way into the attic, so firefighters brought in an insulation vacuum to remove the material from the attic.

The unit had minor smoke and fire damage.

The fire remains under investigation.
