People, pets escape minor house fire

People and pets alike made it out of a house fire unharmed Saturday in Fort Wayne.

About 6:15 p.m., the Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to 1135 Eliza St. on a report of a house fire.

Firefighters learned when they arrived that all the residents and their pets were already out of the home, the department said.

The fire was contained to the first floor of the home and was under control in six minutes, according to a news release.

No one was injured, and the home suffered moderate fire damage.
