Fairfield Avenue section to close for sewer project

Fairfield Avenue will be closed between Jefferson Boulevard and Baker Street for about a month, beginning Monday, as part of a storm sewer separation project, the city of Fort Wayne said today.

The closure will allow a contractor to install underground storm and water lines beneath the pavement, the city's Traffic Engineering Department said in a statement.

During the closure, Ewing Street will become two-way traffic between Baker and Brackenridge streets, and Brackenridge will become two-way between Fairfield and Ewing, the statement said.

Southbound traffic on Fairfield will be detoured to Jefferson, Ewing and Baker, it said. The intersections of Fairfield and Baker and of Baker and Ewing will be controlled by stop signs.
