Police and fire

2 injured by gunfire from passing car

Two people suffered minor injuries early Tuesday when someone in a car drove by a group of people and opened fire.

When police arrived at a home in the 4500 block of Monroe Street, they found one person shot in the arm and another sprawled at the top of the stairs with a gunshot wound to his leg, according police reports.

Both were taken to a hospital in good condition after the shooting attack at Monroe Street and Congress Avenue.

Witnesses told police several people were standing outside when a dark-colored Chevrolet Impala pulled up along the Congress Avenue side of the home shortly after midnight, and someone inside the car fired several gunshots.

Police found 9 mm shell casings and a partly loaded magazine for a .40-caliber handgun nearby.
