NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Authorities believe that a father and son whose bodies were found in a large pond drowned after falling out of a canoe while fishing in northeast Ohio.

The Trumbull County coroner’s office has identified the men as 48-year-old Anthony Harris Sr. and 21-year-old Anthony Harris Jr. of Youngstown.

A fire official says the father’s body was found late Sunday afternoon in the pond in rural Newtown Township, about 24 miles northwest of Youngstown. The son’s body was found Monday morning.

The official said the canoe was floating along the shore and appeared to be undamaged. No life jackets were found. The official says the pond is 10 to 12 feet deep and has heavy vegetation on the bottom.
