It said the man was unconscious and unresponsive; he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The nature of his injuries was not disclosed.

“Per department protocol, the Homicide Team and Crime Scene Units were summoned to assist in this critical injury investigation,” the statement said.

Detectives were canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with residents. Crime Scene Technicians were searching for possible evidence.

As of 8:45 a.m., detectives had been “unable to determine if this is a criminal investigation,” the statement said.

Shannon Drive was closed to all traffic between Shell and Neighbor drives during the investigation.
