Victim shot outside house

A man was in critical condition after a shooting early Thursday on Fort Wayne’s south side.

The man was apparently outside a house about 2:20 a.m. in the 4000 block of Lillie Street when the man was hit with gunfire, city police said.

Police and medics arrived to find the man in serious condition, but he was downgraded to critical at the hospital, police said.

Investigators did not have information to establish a suspect or motive. Police said it’s too early to say if gang activity played a role.

Detectives have not yet been able to interview the victim, whose name was not released. The only lead they had to go on at the time of the shooting was that a light-colored SUV could have been involved.
