Victim of overnight motorcycle crash dies

The Fort Wayne man motorcyclist critically injured in a crash on Coldwater Road about 3 a.m. today has died at a local hospital, the Allen County coroner's office said.

Justin Seyfert's accidental death from blunt force trauma is the 10th traffic fatality in Fort Wayne and the county in 2014, the coroner's office said in a statement.

Seyfert was found in the 8500 block of Coldwater and was taken to a local hospital, police have said.

They said Seyfert was riding south on Coldwater at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve, going off the west side of the road.

He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed several yards away, police said. The coroner's office said Seyfert was not wearing a helmet.

Fort Wayne firefighters and the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority assisted city police. The crash remains under investigation by the city police, its FACT team and the coroner's office.
