Former “Scandal” actor Columbus Short has been arrested in Dallas on a charge of public intoxication.

Dallas police said the 31-year-old Short was arrested at 2 a.m. Saturday at the Katy Trail Ice House, a popular beer garden and restaurant.

It is not the first time Short has had trouble with the law. In May, he pleaded not guilty to felony battery for a fight that seriously injured a man at a West Hollywood restaurant. And he faced a misdemeanor spousal battery case.

Flavor Flav cited

Police have cited rapper Flavor Flav over his annual Fourth of July fireworks show outside his Las Vegas home Friday.

The reality TV star has been accused of setting off thousands of dollars’ worth of illegal fireworks at his holiday party since 2009.

Police Lt. Ken Romaine tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that officers confiscated over 100 pounds of fireworks and issued him two fireworks-related citations.

Essence a hit

The Essence Festival marked its 20th anniversary by setting a record for annual attendance with more than 550,000 participants celebrating four days of R&B music, community and black culture at the New Orleans’ convention center and Superdome.

That’s about 10,000 more people than attended the 2013 festival, which included a sold-out performance by Beyoncé. Organizers say the 2014 festival has earned the distinction of being the largest gathering in its history.

This year’s festival included more than 80 musical performances highlighted by Prince, Lionel Richie, Charlie Wilson, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, Trey Songz and The Roots.
