Home for sale damaged in fire

A Fort Wayne home for sale was heavily damaged by a mid-day fire Tuesday.

At 11:20 a.m., the Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to 3530 Kirkland Ave., the department said.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof. Flames had spread throughout the attic, and firefighters used an insulation vacuum to remove flammable material from the attic, the department said.

The house was vacant, and no injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
