Two dogs were rescued from a fire that heavily damaged a detached garage at a Riverside Avenue home Wednesday morning.

No one was injured.

Firefighters were called to 645 Riverside Ave. shortly after 11 a.m. on a reported fire in the garage, and found heavy smoke coming from the front of the garage, the Fort Wayne Fire Department said in a statement.

The first crews at the scene had to force entry into the garage, but controlled the fire within a few minutes, the statement said.
