Body of missing kayaker found

After several days of searching the St. Marys River in the Decatur area, officials found the body of missing kayaker Steven Seitz at 10:15 a.m. Monday.

Members of the Decatur Fire Department found Seitz's body, according to a statement issued by Indiana conservation officers.

The Decatur man and a companion were kayaking near the 2700 block of North U.S. 33 on Friday evening when his kayak overturned at a logjam. Conservation officers said Seitz was not wearing a life jacket.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police assisted in the search.
