Airline incentive gets county OK
The Allen County commissioners approved a $150,000 contribution agreement Friday with the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority, part of an initiative to get direct flights to an East Coast travel hub.
The county, along with five other entities, pooled together the $2 million revenue guarantee for American Airlines flights to Philadelphia that will begin in October.
The two-year incentive program will reimburse American Airlines any time during the next two years if revenue expectations are not met.
Others that contributed to the economic development incentive included: U.S. Department of Transportation – $600,000; city of Fort Wayne – $600,000; Greater Fort Wayne Inc./Airport Authority – $500,000; Indiana Economic Development Corp. – $100,000; and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership – $50,000.
