City man barricades himself in west-side home

Fort Wayne Police were called to 1305 High Street on reports a suspect at the residence wanted to harm himself and any officer who approached the home, according to a news release.

Officers who arrived on the scene found the man acting in a strange manner and, at one point, deployed a beanbag round, which was not effective, officer Michael Joyner said.

After nearly three hours and several attempts to persuade the man to leave the residence failed, officers used two distraction devices at the front and rear doors of the home at which point the subject surrendered without further incident.
