False Kosciusko email notification a virus, clerk says

An email directing residents to appear in court at a specific date and time is false and may contain a computer virus, the Kosciusko County clerk said today.

A local resident received such an email, clerk Ann Torpy said in a statement. Upon opening the email, the statement said, a potential virus is attached.

Torpy said the clerk's office notifies the public through the U.S. mail and through the sheriff's department, not via email.

Police said if you receive a suspicious email from an unknown source, it is best to delete it without opening it.
