Video shows rape suspect enter apartment

Surveillance cameras caught images of a 41-year-old Fort Wayne man going into a neighbor’s apartment on the morning of March 25.

According to the woman, the man, Stephen D. Booker, raped her while she slept in her bed, passed out from a night out with friends, according to court documents filed in Allen Superior Court on Monday.

Booker, of the 1500 block of Roosevelt Drive, is charged with two counts of rape, accusing him of having sex with the woman who was unaware the conduct was occurring and too mentally deficient at that moment to give consent.

According to court documents, the woman was out with some family and friends and had a number of drinks. Her sister took her home and left her passed out in her bed at 3:10 a.m.

The woman awoke to Booker having sex with her, and when she told him to leave, he apologized. She then went to the Sexual Assault Treatment Center, where DNA evidence was collected that was later found to match Booker’s, according to court documents.

The video cameras showed neighbors going into the apartment periodically to check on the woman, and at one point Booker went into the apartment with another woman but stayed behind. He told police the victim was angry because he would not pay her for sex.

But the woman he was with when he went into the apartment said the victim was passed out on the bed when she left the apartment, according to court documents.

Booker had not been arrested as of Monday night.
