  • Meijer agrees to pay $2 million civil penalty
    The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Meijer, Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., has agreed to pay a $2 million civil penalty for distributing recalled consumer products.
  • Wawaka railroad crossing closed
    The railroad crossing on Noble County Road 300 West in Wawaka is closed until Friday, according to Noble County Emergency Management. A reason wasn’t given for the closure.
  • Coats staffer in Geneva on Friday
    A member of the staff for Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., will visit Geneva in Adams County on Friday to meet with res­idents and help people ex­per­iencing problems with federal agencies.

Harrison Street detours scheduled for closures

On Wednesday and Thursday there will be underground utility work at the intersection of Berry and Harrison streets during the day.

Harrison will first be closed at Berry Street for southbound traffic and then for northbound traffic, the Fort Wayne Traffic Engineering Department announced.

It said detours will be marked using Ewing Street or Fairfield Avenue during the closures.

Underground communication lines will be placed along the north half of the intersection.
