Fire damages south-side home

Firefighters were called to the 4421 Hoagland Avenue east of Fairfield Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Sunday and found smoke coming from a two-story home, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

When crews searched the structure, they found fire coming from an electrical panel in the basement. Crews had to wait until the power was shut off before they could extinguish the blaze. The fire department had the fire under control in 20 minutes, the fire department said.

Three adults were home at the time, all of whom evacuated safely. There blaze caused moderate damage and no injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
