Body found after reports of shots

A man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after Fort Wayne police responded about 7 tonight to calls about shots being fired in the 2500 block of Weisser Park Avenue.

Police found a man down in a vacant lot between two houses. Multiple calls had been made to 911 about shots being fired.

No one was in custody as of 8:15 p.m., but police were canvassing the area.

If the man’s death is declared a homicide, it would be the seventh one in Allen County this year.

There were 45 homicides in the county last year.
