Good things for Sunday Brunch, June 22, 2014

I spend a couple of hours on Sundays putting together ingredients for Sunday Brunch, when you have a little more time for the good stuff.

  • I love the time-lapse video by Cathie Rowand from the Habitat for Humanity building blitz in Fort Wayne. The cloud action is awesome, and it is amazing how much can be done in just one day.
  • If you need a giggle, DudeDay posted Dads Respond to Disney's "Frozen" on YouTube a week ago.

  • If you have time for just one story today, check out Baptism by Fire by N. R. Kleinfield in The New York Times. Mesmerizing video, great storytelling, awesome photos about a New York firefighter who confronts his first real test. Here’s a taste: "Should they go in without water? Wait? There were no flames snapping at them. Children were inside. This was the job. You went into unthinkable places that others ran out of."
  • Have kids? Ever lost the binky? Here’s a little story from the Virginia-Pilot that will make you smile: Binky's big adventures in West Ghent by Diane Tennant.
  • We’ve seen a little grumping on Facebook and Twitter about Rock 104 moving to a new spot on the FM dial. Frank Gray chats with Doc West, a Fort Wayne classic.
Duh tip of the day: If you’re going to throw a football filled with drugs, cellphones and chargers into a prison … make sure you’ve got the arm for it.
