Small fire hits north-side house

FORT WAYNE – A split-level house on the city’s north side sustained moderate fire damage in a small blaze Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were sent to 7208 Cranberry Road about 4:45 p.m. after a neighbor called, according to a statement issued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Light smoke could be seen coming out of the attic area of the unoccupied house, so firefighters forced open a door to get inside.

A small fire was doused in an upstairs bedroom in the attic area, the fire department said. There was minor water and smoke damage.
