Multiple sources and media reports have indicated New Haven boys basketball coach Al Gooden will take the same position at Lawrence Central in Indianapolis.
An official announcement could come in the next couple of days.
Gooden didn’t return a phone message, and New Haven athletic director Dave Myers would not comment.
A Wayne graduate, Gooden is 54-14 in three years at New Haven after going 338-214 in 23 years at Harding and Heritage.
Gooden coached Harding, which closed in 2011, to a Class 2A state championship in 2001. He also had state runner-up finishes in 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
Gooden’s son and daughter reside in Indianapolis.
Gooden would replace J.R. Shelt, who was 72-78 in seven years at Lawrence Central.
