3 held in Warsaw drug bust

Three Kosciusko County residents have been arrested on drug charges after Warsaw police raided an apartment on the community's northeast side, police said today.

In a statement, police said undercover Warsaw narcotics officers went to an apartment on North County Road 175 East about 1:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving information that morphine was being sold there.

Police said they spoke with Jennifer Moore, 25, of Warsaw, who they said had walked out of the apartment and attempted to conceal a pill bottle.

Officers obtained the bottle, which contained eight pills identified as morphine sulfate, a controlled substance for which Moore did not have a prescription, police said.

Inside the apartment, police said they spoke with Leroy Houchin, 46, who they said told them he provided morphine to Moore in exchange for marijuana.

Officers said they discovered a marijuana cultivation operation inside the apartment.

Houchin was charged with dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance and with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of marijuana.

Moore was charged with dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

Both were being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on $10,000 bond each.

A third person, Kari Hughes, 35, of Leesburg, was arrested on an outstanding warrant alleging dealing, and was being held without bond.

Warsaw police said they were assisted by Indiana State Police and the county prosecutor's office.
