Pedestrian dies after Kosciusko crash

A Warsaw pedestrian critically injured in an early morning crash Wednesday has died at a Fort Wayne hospital, and his death was ruled accidental, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Michael Keener, 22, was walking south on Kosciusko County Road 150 West near West County Road 300 North about 5:30 a.m. when a small sport utility vehicle came up from behind and struck him, the county sheriff's department has said.

The driver of the SUV told police he did not see Keener until the last minute because Keener was wearing dark clothing.

Keener was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he died Wednesday afternoon, the coroner's office said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko sheriff's department and the Allen County coroner's office.
