Victim of Chippendale slaying identified

A Fort Wayne man was identified as the victim of the shooting Wednesday night on Chippendale Court on the city's southeast edge, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Nicholas Xavier Palacio, 29, died from gunshot wounds, the coroner's office said in a statement. His death was the sixth homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2014.

Police were called shortly after 9 p.m. to a home in the 4200 block of Chippendale Court after neighbors reported hearing gunshots, city police have said.

They said the victim was found inside the house with multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

The shooting remains under investigation by city police and the coroner's office.
